Graduates in Crisis
Hi. I had recently graduated from the university and was in serious need for an internship or a job that would provide experience that was relevant to my qualification (Psychology). I heard of an opportunity from an NGO called MoAfrika that is situated in Tladi Location in Soweto in that was recruiting recent graduates for internships. They requested our CVs and conducted interviews and after a couple of days the chosen graduates were called back to sign their contracts and be placed with their host employers. On the contract it clearly stated that Services Seta would be the agency responsible for issuing our stipends/payments on the last day of every month. Myself and 16 other interns were place at the City of Joburg - Jabulani Civic Centre in April and the very first month we were supposed to receive our payments Services Seta failed to pay us only doing so in the next month (May 2018) on the 8th. When we complained about this they said that it was because of an error with the biometrics system and that it wouldn't happen again. Unfortunately Services Seta didn't keep their word and failed to meet payments again at the end of May, we are approaching the end of June and we are STILL waiting for our stipends. We had a meeting with Seta along with Greysonreed and the excuse they gave us was that it was a data capturing problem. Please help!
