smart move? more like WRONG MOVE!!!

Whilst working overseas, we appointed Seeff in Gordon's Bay to manage two of our properties. We selected Seeff at the time as they seemed to be one of the 'best presented' property agencies at the time, little did we know. The agent that was appointed caused us more grieve and debt then anything else, for example some of the main issues included:

(1) allowing tenants to stay on in the property without paying rent and municipality bills for months, leaving us with overdue bills.

(2) then for 3 years witheld information on this ex-tenant (as we believe there is a personal connection with the agent) so we were unable to make a case to try and retrieve some of the money being owed to us.

(3) when tenants did not pay full rent, they never followed through on stipulations in their contract.

(4) Never really collected or took responsibility for checking up on tenants paying their municipality bills which now has resulted into thousands of rands.

(5) Allowing rent payments to be made late without any penalties.

(6) We struggled to get hold of the agent at times, she did not always reply to e-mails or sms messages.

(7) Making empty promises.

(8) We complaint / discussed the concerns regarding service we received with one of the Seeff managers and nothing happened.

(9) It's now been over a year since we ended our working agreement with Seeff and they still have not paid the deposits for the two properties, the agent claimed they have but they are unable to provide any prove of payments and we do not have any record of payments in our bank accounts.

These properties were supposed to be investments, our children's futures, but Seeff have made this the worst experience ever with their terrible customer service. We would not recommend anybody work through them as a lettings agency. We are currently looking at buying a family house but our experience with Seeff was so bad that we refuse to view any properties being sold through Seeff just to avoid dealing with them again. Their saying is "smart move", but we certainly made a WRONG move selecting them as a lettings agency.
