Section 5 of the Rental Housing Act, No 50 of 1999

<p>Section 5 of the Rental Housing Act, No 50 of 1999 allows a landlord to use money from the tennant's deposit for replacing keys. Seeff Secunda claims that the key for a garage door cannot be replaced and that they need to replace the lock as a result. The problem is that the lock was not installed completely to start off with as no holes are drilled for the lock's bolt to engage. I thought that this might be in order to prevent damage to the garage motor. It seems that they want to have this installation oversight repaired using my deposit. This would be in contravention of section 5 of the Rental Housing Act. </p> <p> </p> <p>In a previous incident, Seeff sent a handyman to repair a water leak while they should have gotten a plumber.</p>
