Johannesburg council refund **** by Arthur Begg

Please be aware of this person and companies! Arthur Begg calls people in the Johannesburg area that have sold property and then offers to settle their rates account with the council for a fee. When he called us I was reluctant to pay the R1500 upfront, but Arthur called me daily, and because we were moving I paid the money. 3 Weeks later when I contacted Arthur to check on the account, he told me that he only just received the money. (We are at the same bank!). Every couple of weeks I called, and got excuses, once according to him the whole department at the council got fired so that was the reason for the delays. Then, he stopped taking our calls, and in the meantime our rates account was escalating, although we were supposed to get a R6000 refund. In August last year I received a call from his office, a young lady called to let us know that everything was just about settled and that she would call the next week to inform us the final rebate we will receive. Well, needless to say, she never called back, and once again Arthur Begg refused to take our calls.

We now have a R12500 rates bill outstanding! Eventually I sent a mail to Arthur to enquire again, he asked for my account numbers again! And then nothing! I sent another mail, and he told me he couldn't give me any reference numbers from the council and that the council had no record of this account being closed at all!

Please be aware of this man, he now has a sales job at Seeff Meyersdal where he has access to more people that he can take for a ride! His company used to be called Mr Rates Refund, and is now called Rates on the Go!
