Cheap, nasty mattresses. Non-existent customer service

Less than 6 months after purchasing a Sealy posturepedic Alon (supposedly plush) mattress from Mattress Warehouse, the springs became increasingly noisy even with the most subtle of movement. The softness also disappeared and it has sunk in so much that I’ve woken up with back and hip pain. When you saved for a new bed to replace your 20 years old one and then this happens, it is immensely upsetting. The salesperson at MW had offered to “throw in” a free mattress protector, IF I gave him a good review. I thought it was just a bit over “sales-y” at the time. Maybe this is what the store does to try and cover up the terrible quality of the mattress they know they just sold to you.

I followed up with Sealy directly after a week of not hearing from anyone after my initial complaint to MW. Sealy requested a video of me rolling on the bed to prove that there are noises inside the mattress. I still can’t figure out how I’m meant to record a noise that way but I reckon they all have a laugh their infuriated customers rolling videos. I eventually had calls from 3 staff. Patrick, Christina and Chris. Pretty much all quite blunt, disinterested and unapologetic. I was told the inspectors “knock off” at 2pm on a Friday and “can’t work after hours” so I either have to make a plan to be available for one to come and roll on my bed to decide if the issue with mattress in question meets their criteria for something to be done about it, or if I must shut up about it and stop inconveniencing them. Apparently 9am is considered early by inspector. I have to leave hours before that to be at MY job on time so I guess I lose out here. At this point, I was at a loss for words and decided to stop wasting energy and time on trying to get Sealy to take any accountability for their shoddy product and non-existent customer service. It was easier albeit another expense to buy a mattress topper from a better brand to have a good sleep again. I can’t wait to replace my mattress with what I wanted in the first place from another brand, it won’t be from Sealy that’s for sure. I had 2 missed calls in the following weeks from the Bravo brands number and chose to ignore both because i have no further interest in what this ********* company might have to say. In my opinion Sealy South Africa is no different to any other professional ****mer, taking your money and giving you cheap counterfeit mattresses under the Sealy name.
