Poor workmanship, Poor customer service

01 April 2022: Day of assessment I took my car to the Discovery Menlyn assessment centre where the damages were confirmed. The assessor told me that my car would be booked into Savannah Coachworks. I asked about other repair shops closer to my home but was told that I cannot go to any other repair shop.

06 April 2022 : First time dropping my car off at Savannah Coachworks.

25 April 2022 : [3 Weeks later] The car was ready for collection. After close inspection of the car at home I picked up several issues with the repair work done on the car. • Over spray (Back window). • Back bumper not clipping back properly. • Passenger side skirt - the finish is untidy • Chipped passenger side back light. An email was sent to Savannah Coachworks before the close of business that day to inform them that I would be bringing the car back.

26 April 2022 : Second time dropping the car off at Savannah Coachworks

28 April 2022 : I was called and told I could come and collect the car.

29 April 2022 : Upon my arrival, I was still unhappy with the work and was instructed by the Broker to leave the car there until the matter could be sorted out.

During this time I was unable to get a rental car as they had put the status of the vehicle as ready for collection on the system. Throughout this entire process I was without a vehicle and had to make use of e-hailing services to get to work.

10 May 2022 : The side skirt was approved by the assessor to be fixed. There had not originally been any damage to this part of the vehicle except when they over sprayed that part of the vehicle.

12 May 2022 : I continued to receive different stories over the next few days. My father was being told one thing. The broker was told another thing. I was told a completely different story to either one of the two.

I did some research on Savannah Coachworks and found that they had extremely bad reviews as most of their clients were or had experienced the same, if not worse from this company. After taking all this into consideration, I felt the best option was to collect my car and take the matter further. My car has still not been properly fixed.

Complaint about quality of work by Savannah Coachworks: The over spray shows that the car was not stripped as it was suppose to be. The different stories given to the various parties led to the issue of mistrust. The lack of professionalism towards me as a client, based on my age and them trying to mislead me was also disturbing. They told me that the bumper could not be clipped into place as the car was in another accident. There was no sign of a broken clip or damage before the car was worked on by Savannah Coachworks.

Expected outcome: I want my car fixed to the standard that an approved repair shop should, by another repairer. The repairs should not be noticeable to an amateur like me.
