Terminated Dissability Grant

I have been receiving a disability grant from SASSA since I was 10 years old. Recently, I turned 18 and needed to reapply for the grant as an adult. However, my experience with this process has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

When I visited the SASSA office to submit my application, the doctor appointed by SASSA informed me that the medical letter I provided was intended for pediatricians and not suitable for my current application. I was instructed to return to my own doctor to obtain a new letter that accurately describes my condition as an adult.

What I find perplexing and exasperating is that the SASSA-appointed doctor, who is a licensed medical professional, could clearly see my diagnosis and is fully aware of my long-standing condition. It raises the question: Why is she unable to approve my disability grant based on the information at hand? Isn't it within her professional capacity to evaluate my eligibility?

Despite these obstacles, the doctor eventually granted me a disability grant for a period of 12 months. However, to my surprise, I did not receive the grant this month, which implies it may have been terminated without any notice or explanation. This unexpected disruption adds yet another layer of frustration and concern.

To make matters worse, the employees at the SASSA office were incredibly unfriendly and unprofessional throughout the entire process. Instead of offering assistance or understanding, they were dismissive and cold, adding to the stress of an already difficult situation.

As a result of these bureaucratic hurdles, the lack of professionalism, and the unexplained termination of my grant, I am now stuck at home, unable to pay my school fees, which is especially concerning as I am currently in my matric year. The delays, inefficiencies, and poor service have left me feeling extremely frustrated and anxious about my future.
