MAPONYA MALL SASSA BAD SERVICE AND FRUSTRATION
My name is Sindisiwe Amy Xaba, pensioner and grand mother of 5 grand children. I live in , soweto. Currently I'm not working and doing the best I can to make ends meet for one of my grand kids specifically who is a special child and is not performing well in intermediate schools like all normal kids - He is a slow learner who has SID (severe intellectual disability). On April 3rd 2020 - His mother passed on and the child was receiving his social grant (R350) upon the month of May, when the the grant did not reflect I decided to go and enquire at the SASSA office at Maponya Mall. The response I got from Dorine (coloured lady) who was assisting me, told me because I was getting my UIF from my previous work, I could not apply for the child's grant on that regard and told me to come back to the office as soon as the funds have exhausted. August 2020 - My UIF funds have exhausted and went back to SASSA office and submitted all required documents as they needed. I was told that I cant apply for his child support grant only but also should apply for the older persons grant because of my age. My application was declined because of an amount that reflected on my bank statement in June 2020, a once-off amount of 10k annuity covid relief from Stanlib. I was told to submit a letter from Stanlib explaining this amount reflecting , but still my application was declined. December 2020 - I was assisted by Mr, Moeketsi ( SASSA official) he explained to me that the previous application that was declined resulted that I was earning an amount R7000 +/- from a private company every month of which I'm not aware off. Mr. Moeketsi was very helpful by assisting me by requesting documents from me (affidavits, statements etc) and opened a new file for me and was promised that by January 2021, I would start receiving the older persons grant.
BOOM !! 2021 JANUARY , Nothing happened and held on to hope that something will happen until March 2021 , I approached offices and was referred to the VERY same person - Dorine, that coloured lady so rude ,humiliated me and said I was a ****. I EVEN asked her how could I lie under Oath , Waking-up very early to catch the long ques only to be told that old people ..."LIE , WE ALWAYS DO..." Dorine's words and she said she would call me and until this day in February 3rd 2022 I have not received a call from her. I was humiliated and truly embarrassed, scared even to have been treated like this by lady who can easily be my daughter in the manner she spoke to me. I'm appalled and disappointed. From May 2020 - the whole year of 2021 up -to date in 2022, The child is not receiving child support grant. I surviving of selling sweets and chips to kids.
The child is suffering and he only has me to look after him and his special needs - he has to take medication also to assist him since he also had to deal with his mother's passing- Its been very hard especially for him.
I hope someone will hear my cry and hope to get assistance so the child and I can Live again.
