Increase of my social grant.

At the end of December 2018 I left my employment due to retirement. At the beginning of January 2019 I then went to Sassa Maponya Mall to apply for a social grant. My pension payout was not enough as I had worked for that company for seven years only. Prior to that I was unemployed. The Grant was approved however the amount that I was given was R200.00 less than the normal Grant given to pensioners. The reason for this was that I was also getting a monthly living annuity which runs for 10 years. This annuity decreases every year on the anniversary date. Last year I went to the Sassa offices to find out why I am still getting less than others, I was again told that my annuity had still not reached the benchmark required and that I must try again this year. On the 4th of February 2021 I received a Confirmation of change to income from my insurer. The amount which will run for another year ( March 2021 to March 2022 ) has been decreased and fulfills the benchmark required by Sassa in order to review and up my Grant like every senior citizen of our country. Today I went to Sassa Maponya Mall with all the documents they asked me to bring. These are: 1. Affidavit from the police station confirming my new annuity amount. 2. A certified copy of my ID 3. Confirmation of change of income details from my insurer. 3. months bank statement as proof of my income

After being in the que for 12 hours at Sassa Maponya Mall I was called in only to be told that they are full therefore I would have to come back tomorrow. I really understand that they are overloaded especially now during this trying times. They can only assist up to a certain number, required by the government. Apparently for one to be seen, one has to wake up as early as 4 in the morning and start the que by 5 in the morning. Granted I understand however it is dangerous to leave home around that time due to the muggings and ****s surrounding our country. I then asked the lady who checked my documents and confirmed that it's all they need, also confirmed that I do qualify for an increase in order to be in line with everyone , I asked her if its possible to scan and email my documents to Sassa headquarters, she actually said yes that was the best option and I should also mention to the Sassa head office that she has already check everything and approved the increase. The reason for this Hellopeter publish is that I would like to have Sassa,s response. In the meantime I will also send them my documents via gmail. I do have their email address and the name of the person I dealt with before.
