My mother-in-law is financially dependent on her children and the old age grant that she receives from SASSA.

Listed on SASSA's webpage the following this disqualifies you from receiving the grant:

must not be maintained or cared for in a State Institution;
must not be in receipt of another social grant for him or herself;

My mother-in-law was yesterday informed that as she receives assistance from her children, she will only receive a grant of R600 and not R1600.

This is unacceptable. My husband and I both pay our taxes, and nowhere does the assistance of children disqualify you from receiving your government grant.

I dont even know where to begin to fight this,
