Double charge - Case ***
On 22/12/2015 at 11h34am, travelling north, I stopped at the N1 Kranskop toll gate to pay the toll as I was not aware that this toll plaza was now accepting etags. My wife told me afterwards that my etag did beep and the boom did go up but as I was busy paying the booth attendant I did not see this happen. I was not given a receipt by the booth attendant and after paying the R38 I drove on. The result is that I paid twice at this toll (etag and cash). When I returned I logged a call to get the R38 refunded. Their first reply asked for the receipt. I rep**** telling them that I was not given a receipt by the booth attendant and attached a signed declaration stating that I paid the R38 cash. Their subsequent replies have been the same despite me telling them every time that their booth attendant did not give me a receipt and asking for contact details of a senior manager to speak to. After four such replies (on advice from a lawyer) I attached an affidavit saying that I paid the R38 cash. The fifth reply received this morning is again asking for a receipt. Does Sanral really not accept affidavits? Is the strategy to be as difficult as possible and hope the customer goes away?
Thank you for your query, it is receiving attention. SANRAL will revert with a response.
