WHAT A CRYING SHAME!!!!

Firstly, a gem that's lost its sparkle: We've been visiting Hluhluwe game reserve for more than 20yrs and this last visit over the Easter weekend was a real shock. The main gate looked unkept and grubby. The cultural village has been in an army tent (dark ,dingy and definitely not appealing) for years now with no sign of repairing the original thatched one. The toilets are run down and broken. We traveled through the park with a constant flow of water trucks passing in both directions (apparently been going on for weeks because the pump at hilltop was broken) we were told that guests had packed up and left as, at one time there was no water and no electricity (due to the generator not working and load shedding) Stopping for breakfast at the picnic site brough more disappointment as we also found this run down and overgrown.

Visiting Camdaboo National park over the long weekend camping, we found vicious, threatening and destructive ******s. When we reported this, they said they couldn't do anything as there was no one there. It was horrific, even in their visitor book was a comment that they would not be returning because of the ******'s. We then wanted to go into the other side of the park that required a key to enter, only to be told that someone else had the key (only one key!!!) we've traveled over 800km to visit this park and can't see one half as they've only got one key, unbelievable!!! My husband and I can't believe the deterioration over the years to our beautiful parks - it's a crying shame and at some point, even the overseas visitors will stop coming. There's just no interest, no pride in what SanParks has to offer, not only to SA visitors but the World.
