West Coast National Park

The public holiday on 27 December 2022 turned out to be somewhat disappointing at the Reserve: gates opened 15 minutes late. Under-resourced and poor gate management meant waiting very long to get in. At Preekstoel, toilets were unserviced and vandalised. The beach was uncleaned ****ter from previous day not collected from bins and not picked up from the beach). Inconsiderate/******* behaviour from some visitors not kept in check. Poor/no signage about loud music and boozing. This is a Nature reserve for goodness sake. There was even a dog running loose on the beach which is not allowed. There were no Park rangers doing the rounds during the time we were there (between 8am and 5pm). What the heck is happening? I been visiting the Reserve since my childhood in the 1970s. This is the worst management of this natural resource I've witnessed to date.
