Sanparks
It should not even be a 1 star. We have been going to sanparks for over 20 years. We are regular visitors visiting them atleast twice to three times a year for periods of 10 to 14 days at a time. We also visit atleast three of the parks sometimes more on a given trip. I do not know who runs these parks lately but you can see how they are detoriating with each visit and all of them, some worse than others. Firstly it is impossible to do a booking. Secondly the upkeep and general maintenance well there is no such thing. A good example would be Addo. The bathrooms are old and you stand in ankle deep water and if someone opens a tap well then no water or if you do have you are burnt or it is icy cold. Two showers and three toilets for the whole camp and the maintenance is just non existent. The camp areas use to be raked neatly the Elephant bush between the campsites were neatly trimmed and the campsites were so tidy. Now its overgrown right to the ground like ground covers very untidy. Also risk for snakebites. Our last visit Sept 2023 there were three snakes found in the campsites. It is nature no problem there but with kids running around it is important to trim the Elephant bushes so you can see any snakes lurking around. Then Stormsriver. We decided this park is off our list until the restaurant and shop has been rebuilt. It has been years since it burnt down. Unbelievably looking like a building site ever since so untidy. I dont even want to know what our tourists must think. I am ashamed. Augrabies bathrooms outdated in poor condition zero maintenance there. After the flood well its probably going to take years before the damage will be fixed. It is all of the parks some more than others. It is not cheap staying at these parks and it is overflowed with tourists making it very difficult for South Africans to visit them and then to see the condition they are in. Please attend to it. This is so important for our country.
