Don't book accommodation at Sanparks Glen Reenen Rest Camp if you could help it at all
We experienced the poorest of poor service/accommodation at Glen Reenen Rest Camp (Golden Gate)! Since we visited said Rest Camp a couple of years ago, we thought it would be a good idea to stay over there again in one of the Rondavels since "we know the place". Big mistake. For R1 105.00 per night we got: * No TV Reception (Sorry, there is something wrong) * Cutlery/crockery incomplete (no fork or pudding bowl - if you take into consideration that there are only 2 OF EACH, a 50% loss is substantial and nobody noticed/checked?!) * The globe of the outside light at the braai, was fused (nobody noticed/checked?!) * The toilet didn't have a HANDLE!!!! (We had to lift the lid and manually open the valve!) * The blinds in the one window was removed and not replaced * The hot blanket only worked on the left side - the right side didn't switch on/work at all * When you report the problems, you are informed that someone will attend to it in 10 minutes - which actually means Doctor (the maintenance guy) will be there later - much later * Units are not serviced at all as a result of Covid-19 but we know/found that other resorts service their units every day? * Since you are issued with the bare basics (2 knifes, 2 forks, 2 mugs, 2 teas****s, 2 s****s, etc) you obviously have to do a lot of rinsing/dish washing when preparing meals. The challenge comes when you need to dish up your meal and have only 1 small Pirex dish with lid available. You need your 2 large plates to eat from and there is no other serving dish. Improvise by using the frying pan... The Rest Camp accommodation and service is a disgrace taking into consideration what you are paying. Believe you me: we would strongly advise anybody to stay over at Glen Reenen Rest Camp and we most definitely will never return...
