Threatening to list us for non payment of a service not provided

I app**** for a temp licence for an event in November 2015. After sending my application, I received no further correspondance from SAMRO until we received a letter of demand in January 2016 for an invoiced amount of R220.

I have sent many emails to Richard Merckel who is not at all interested in resolving this matter.

We CANNOT be invoiced for a service not provided. I did not have a licence at the event. They have not requested or received playlists and cannot prove that an invoice was ever even sent to us.

I see that it is common practice to list clients for failed services and this is not fair. Should they list, we will fight this accordingly.

This invoice must be cancelled. Unfortunately there is no one else I can deal with. Richard Merckel seems to be an automated responder on one of SAMRO's computers.

As mentioned to the auto-responder, my company did what was right in that we did not try playing music without paying the necessary fees, but SAMRO did not do what they are mandated to do in that a licence was not provided to us for the event. SAMRO are not protecting the rights of musicians.
