Tv license not canceled

Years ago I had paid up and canceled my TV license as I moved to my parents house. As she already had a TV license, I canceled mine: 1 household=1 TV license. Now all of a sudden I am getting emails again that I owe them over R2500. This is unacceptable as my cancelation letter and my mom's TV license was emailed to them!!!
