SABC TV license harassment

After months I have now paid my TV license thanks to the incessant harassment by Hahn Collections, the SABC TC license department's debt collectors. I am sorry to all those in the same situation, as this will only show them that if this is the way they operate, it works! I have tried multiple times to explain to the debt collectors (and before them to the SABC) in response to their communications that I HAVE NOT OWNED A TV FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS! (Who would, given the programming, right?) FINALLY, not the SABC, but Hahn Collections advised me to write a letter to the SABC to request a cancellation of the license. Did that, affidavit and all, but still the harassment continued - well, I guess the SABC will read my letter sometime within the next 5 years and will (perhaps) inform Hahn. NO indication is given on any SABC communication of what one does when one does not have a television and therefore does not need a license anymore. They DO give 101 ways in which one can pay, but not what to do if one does NOT HAVE TO pay. I had to find out from the collection company that I am responsible still for both the license and collectors fees. NEVER AGAIN A TELEVISION SET IN MY HOUSE. If this is the way customers are treated, no wonder the SABC is bankrupt! Fortunately my last payment ever is way too little to make any difference to their financially sinking ship!
