SABC ignoring cancellation notice and allowing harassment from their debt collectors

I left South Africa and formally notified the SABC in writing — both by email and letter — that I no longer reside in the country and requested the cancellation of my TV licence, as required. Despite this, I have received no response or confirmation from the SABC.

Instead, I continue to be harassed with repeated emails and messages from debt collectors acting on their behalf. These messages use intimidating and misleading language, including threats of “Trace Alerts” being loaded, even though I have done everything required to cancel my licence.

It is unacceptable that a public institution ignores correspondence and fails to update their records, while allowing debt collectors to pressure people who have followed the correct process.
