SABC. Allegations of Incompetence & Unfounded Accusations.

Hello Peter Reviews – SABC. Allegations of Incompetence & Unfounded Accusations. May I add our unhappiness & extreme frustration with the ‘powers that be’ who run the SABC. My husband and I emigrated to the UK in June 1999. We sold the TV we then owned and provided the SABC (Post Office) with our cancellation as required, as we believe in being responsible and doing what is right. We returned to SA at the end of 2009, bought a TV licence when we invested in a TV much later, and have paid the required annual licence fee ever since. Lo and behold, we received a letter from the SABC via the PO snail mail on 27 Nov 2025, which notice was dated 5 Sept 2025, informing us that my husband is due R12 455-40 in unpaid licence fees. After numerous email correspondences from 28 Nov 2025, with sporadic, frustrating responses from the SABC, and us sending them all the information possible to substantiate our case that we were not in SA for a period of almost 10 years, they still claim our proof is insufficient. To what extent, we do not know! We received an email from the SABC yesterday, 5 Sept 2026, with yet another notice that we are now due R12 985-40!! Their pathetic excuse? ‘Your payment is more than a payment; it’s a way we keep our stories alive & our talent shining bright’; ‘Support the SABC’s legacy of informing, educating, & entertaining South Africans’; ‘Keep our national voice strong….’. What a lot of bullocks! How do we get assistance with resolving this unwanted harassment?
