Pay or we will take further action.

Good day. Late in 2014, I wanted to purchase a tv for which I required a tv licence. At the end of the day I ended up not purchasing the tv. At that time me and the mother of my child was still a couple. We seperated the following year 2015. To be honest I have never owned a tv myself. My attempt to buy my first tv was at the time that I stated. On taking out the tv licence at Russles furniture store, they only asked for my I.D and payment I don't remember receiving any form of paper work telling me what the terms and conditions are. I didn't know if I could cancel the licence. Since my seperation I am in a financial pickle. I am stuck with all the outstanding dept we've made as a couple, plus I have to pay maintenance. Now the Sabc is threatening to take legal measures towards me if I don't pay the omount of R735. I've been renting a room in a commune since the seperation. The tvs belong to the owner of the commune her Dstv is connected to all the televisions in her house and she is the holder of a tv licence. The Sabc don't bother asking you if and how many tvs jou own. They just want to take you're money and expect you to keep on paying without checking up on the people paying the licence. The people that issued it to me gave me nothing but a slip to say that I've payed. I had no education on what to do if I later plan on canceling the tv licence. I sent emails to them twice already, and they haven't even tried to contact me. They just send me threats sms's every month. Finding this cancellation form is no walk in the park
