Living abroad for 4 years, still paying TV Licence, because SABC makes it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel!

TV Licence number: ********** 20

Dear SABC,

Why do you make it impossible for expats to cancel their TV licences? I have been living abroad for 4 years, and for 4 years I have paid you my TV licence fee for a TV which I NO LONGER OWN!

Why? Because, despite... 1) having personally visited your SABC offices in Sea Point TWICE with proof that I have left the country for work abroad (please note, I had to do this during preciously limited and EXPENSIVE holiday time visiting my family in SA) and also providing you with my flight tickets and German work permit, 2) personally handing in a police affidavit confirming that I sold my TV set, because apparently you did not believe me on point 1, despite flight tickets and German work permit having been provided, 3) then SENDING you said affidavit per post, because you "lost" the one I handed in during said precious holiday time in SA, 4) providing you with the TV licence number of the NEW OWNER, 5) calling, calling, calling and calling you from abroad to try sort your pathetic failure out, 6) trying to send faxes to two fax numbers WHICH NEVER EVER WORK (seriously, why do you even pretend to have working fax numbers?), 7) sending so many emails to you, I have lost count...(all of them unanswered, of course)

...you have just managed to send me another renewal notice and invoice to pay your hilarious R265 licence fee! Surely even you can appreciate that I simply cannot keep paying you for fear of being blacklisted, right? I don't live in SA anymore, I sold my stupid TV, and have spent literally hours obsessing about how to cancel my TV licence while living my life in another country! I have done everything you asked AND MORE. I will not ask you to refund my 4 years of paying for nothing - all I ask, is that you PLEASE CANCEL MY LICENCE NOW!!!

Please guys.

Regards, Mr Theunis Bruwer TV licence: ********** 20
