How is the SABC allowed to legally de***** people?

How is it that we can be legally obligated for SABC services that I for one don't even know how to use? In the past, having a TV meant that you just switch it on and TV is there, but nowadays you can't. TV sets are not TV sets and even old TV sets do not get TV programming anymore. What is on TV these days. I have not watched TV for years. I pay this TV license thing because it is too much hassle to get out of it. How do we rid ourselves from being de*****ed like this????
