Don't bother paying your tv licence.

I was one of those that let my account go into arrears and after consistent hassling from collection agents I decided to pay the outstanding and penalties. I logged into their website and clicked a link to make payment. It directed me to a ****agraphic website. Apparently the website had been hacked. There was no way I was going to fiddle and risk inputting credit card details so I made the payment through my bank as SABC is a public beneficiary. I sent the proof of payment to SABC in December with account details asking for acknowledgement of payment. To date, after many follow up e-mails, speaking to two different people in the accounts department my payment has still not been allocated and I get threatening sms messages almost daily. We know that SABC is facing severe financial issues and that paying your tv licence is supposed to be "the right thing to do", why then can they not sort out payments made effectively? I think I definitely wasted my hard earned money by trying to do the right thing!
