Cancellation Timeframe Nonesense

I phoned the SABC last week to ask what documentation they require in order for me to cancel my tv licence. Firstly I was given the 20 question treatment as to why do I want to cancel it and what happened to my tv set. I was then told I just need to provide an affidavit from the police station stating what had happened to my tv set, as I am leaving the country the following week, and by law it cannot just be cancelled. I went and filled in an affidavit stating my tv set was damaged beyond repair, I want to cancel my licence and that I am leaving the country. Sent all the documentation in via email. A few hours later I phoned to confirm that they had received my documetation. I was told it takes 48 hours for electronic documents to show up on a person's profile, as the documents department needs to print out and rescan the documents. I just phoned again, now they tell they received my documents, but it takes 6 to 8 weeks for cancellation and when I enquired about this ridiculous time frame, they said their auditors need to verify everything. I told them I am leaving the country this weekend and no longer live at the address. Now I am been told I need to supply my Plane Ticket and Copy of my Visa to prove that I am leaving the country, and I no longer live at the residence. This is complete nonsense!! Who do these people think they are!!
