Billing duplication
I had the SABC TV license account before my husband and I started living together. When we started living together I went to SABC in Durban to cancel the license as it made no sense to have two licenses under one household. The Indian lady who was behind the counter took my ID number and ten assured me the license was cancelled. This was around 2003 or 2004, I cannot remember the exact details, it has been over 10 years. I then started receiving letters from the attorneys claiming they are representing the SABC TV license department. I ignored those letters, until I stared getting phonecalls. I explained the situation to one of their callers who asked me to email a copy of my marriage certificate to prove marriage and that there is indeed a license for our household. I did, and the phonecals stopped for a while. However today again I have received a phonecal from a lady who says it matters not that I had cancelled years ago, I should have checked that the account was at zero, because they continue to bill me and add interest of around R27 for each pay day i.e 15th, 25th and 30th of each month. Why was I not informed upon cancellation that I owe a certain amount? ****************!
