Being harassed for an apparent 14 year old account

I left South Africa to live in the UK in October 2002. <br> I bought my first ever TV in the UK. <br> I moved back to SA in 2012. I do not own a TV, I own a laptop on which we hire dvds from a video store and watch on the laptop. I house sit regularly and have not had the need to buy a TV. <br> About 3-4 weeks ago, I started being harassed about an outstanding TV licence. I just went online with my ID number to find a R 5900 outstanding bill? With monthly penalties of R 25 over the past however many years. I have been told that I bought a TV in 2001?? I think I would remember that?! I am furious and now I have been advised to take time out of a busy day to go get an affidavit confirming this information? Regardless of whether I owned a TV or not 14/15 years ago, I moved from SA and have had no contact regarding this until now. This is ******* and if there was any outstanding amount on my name for any reason, it is now considered prescribed debt! Please attend to this urgently!
