Dear Pieter O

Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention.

We firstly confirm that at no time during the incident did the Insurer ask you to pay for any diagnostics or towing as this forms part of the claims costs.

A comprehensive short term insurance policy covers for loss caused by, theft , hijacking, fire, storm & hail, malicious damages accidents and damages to the 3rd party.
It does not cover wear & tear or mechanical breakdown.

During the assessment it was determined that the vehicle was in less than satisfactory condition with no evidence of a regular service history.
The diagnostics revealed that the part failure was not related to any insured peril and was purely due to mechanical breakdown and failure.

We would like to draw your attention to the policy contract , page 27, Section T
T. IMPORTANT: WHAT WE DO NOT COVER
1. We do not cover any claim for loss, damage, death, injury or liability directly or indirectly because of any:
1.7 servicing, maintenance, cleaning, repairing, restoring, dyeing, bleaching or alteration;
1.8 mechanical, electrical or electronic breakdown, defect or failure;

Maintenance and servicing of a vehicle is the sole responsibility of the Insured. Similarly the costs of repairs due to mechanical breakdown is for the Insured’s own account.

We confirm that the claim will not be entertained under the policy.
We also urge you to fami****ise yourself with the terms & conditions of the policy contract, and should you have questions regarding the same, kindly contact your Broker or our policy services department.

We trust this addresses your concerns

Kind Regards

The SAU Team

Good Day Pieter O

Kindly forward the photos and the issues encountered to the claims department in order for them to take the matter up with the Dealership where the vehicle was diagnosed.
