Unbelievably disturbing

<p>I joined SA underwriters, taking insurance on my vehicle a year ago...After close to a year, I receive an updated copy of my policy with incorrect information within. After much hassles, I resolved all of this to then find out that they increase the policies annually, even if one doesn't claim. I queried this with my broker and received no further feedback. I then searched and found another insurance company offering me better service and subsequently phoned SA Underwriters and cancelled my policy. I received a call from a person there telling me I will lose a whole year of insurance and benefits if I leave but I was adamant that I wanted to leave. After listening to all that he said, I insisted on cancelling and was successful. My cover and policy was to expire at the end of November 2016. On the 1st of December, I noted that I was debited for an amount of R150 from SA underwriters. Upon phoning and querying, I was informed that this was a cancellation fee. A CANCELLATION FEE??? For not wanting to insure with them? When there was never a remuneration given to me? Why on earth would I want to pay a cancellation fee to stop their service? I must pay someone to stop offering me a service? That almost sounds like the mafia at work. I informed the consultant that there was no way that I was parting with my money and reversed that debit. I have had insurance before but have never heard of me having to pay someone to cancel a service...This company needs to be reviewed. I can assure you I will never recommend this company to anyone at all....never ever. I am not prepared to pay this company and am prepared to go legal on this. Absolutely pathetic but truly disturbing that businesses like this exist.</p>
