Insurance Claim

I bumped into a truck tyre while driving on the freeway on the evening of 3rd Sept 2022. The accident was reported to SAU on the 5th Sept and the following day an assessor came to confirm the damage on the car...this got me excited as I was impressed with the quick response.

Following that, information was requested from me including the claim history with my previous insurer. I was then told that there were some claim incidents that I did not disclose when taking up the insurance and my claim has to be taken for review....that was 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting. The issue is when taking out the insurance I did disclose those accidents that I could remember over a period of 5 years and I specifically said "..as far as I can remember" in the call. I am now driving around with a damaged car with the risk of this damage extending even further due to the non repairs or rather non decision making from SAU. All I need is for SAU to tell me if they are approving the claim or not, rather than sending me from pillar to post. My request to speak to the supervisor twice has not been fruitful, each time I am told that they will call me back and that never happened.

I don't mind if the claim is rejected, but just tell me so I can make other means to repair it myself and move on with my life!

Dear Rolda R

We are sorry that you are unhappy with the perceived delays in the processing of your claim.
Please note, however the Insurer reserves the right to properly validate a claim before accepting liability.

The questions asked during the underwriting process are important to the acceptance of the risk. The Insurer uses the information provided to determine the acceptance of the risk.

During the claim validation it was discovered that you suffered 7(seven) claims in total in the past 5 years. At policy inception the Insurer inquired about your previous claims where you disclosed only two claims.
As this is not the norm and is an irregular issue, the claim must be referred to the Insurer for a decision.

A short term insurance policy is a contract between 2 parties and is subject to specific terms & conditions.
It also relies on the information provided by yourself and requires all information provided to be true and correct.

We can confirm that the Insurer will provide feedback to us shortly and we will be able to provide you with an outcome on the matter in the next few days.

Kind regards

The SAU Team

We dare to deliver!
