Dissatisfied customer

Good day. I had an incident a few months back which was reported to SAUnderwriters. I gave them all the details of the damages to my vehicle.

SAUnderwriters told me to take my vehicle to the panel beaters which they had recomended; however i was not told that my bumper will not be fixed; therefore i was under the impression that all the damages to my vehicle will be fixed.

When i went to fetch my vehicle, my bumper was not repaired. My husband paid over R17600 excess fees. On Tuesday i got a call from SAunderwriters stating due to pre-existing conditions it was declined. However i was not told on inception that the bumper will not be fixed. Therefore i would want my bumper fixed because i was not told of this before they told me to take my car for the repairs to be sorted. I was only told of this when i laid a complaint after i was told to come and fetch my vehicle from the panel beaters, bevause all repairs has been completed. Also a part from my boot lid is missing. I only saw this after a day i fetched it from the panel beaters. I would like my bumper to be repaired because i was not told that this was not going to be repaired. My vehicle is Hyundai Grand i10 motion 2021 model brand new. Thank you.

Reviewer Update
Good day

I have got a reply from SA Underwriters Internal Ombudsman.
They say the bumper was damaged in June 2021 for a 3rd party claim which i submitted through.
How can this be so; i had sent through pictures of the damages on 5 May 2021 with the bumper damages from a panel beater which my dealership had recommended for my first claim. And now Saunderwriters are confusing my first claim with my second claim.
Therefore they say the damages to my bumper cannot be fixed because it happened in June; but i gave them proof that the damages are from May 2021. Please this needs to be sorted out.

Kind regards

Dear Salome G

Thank you for your message.

We confirm that the damage to the bumper was a separate incident and cannot be repaired unless claimed for separately.

Unfortunately the Insurer cannot include these damages together with the previous claim.

Please contact our claims department should you have any questions

Regards
