Disastrous Experience with South African Underwriters Agencies

Dear SAU Agencies

I would strongly advise anyone considering South African Underwriters Agencies to look elsewhere. My experience with them has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Here are the main reasons why I can't recommend them: 1. Misleading Recruitment and Policy Terms: When I was initially recruited, the information I was given over the phone was completely different from what was in the policy document. They quoted me one thing, but the actual policy had an excess that was ridiculous — 3.5% of the sum insured plus a minimum of either R2000 or R5000, depending on the claim category. This is far from what I was led to believe. 2. Extremely Slow Claims Process: When I filed my claim, I was met with nothing but delays. It felt like they simply didn’t care about their customers. The entire process was painfully slow, and I was left waiting for answers that never came on time. They were incredibly nonchalant when it came to addressing my concerns. 3. Rudeness of Staff: The level of rudeness I experienced from their customer service team was appalling. I was constantly spoken to in a dismissive and condescending manner, which only added to my frustration. 4. Reluctance to Pay Claims: One of the most upsetting parts of this experience was how reluctant they were to pay out my claim. I had to pay for my car’s storage fees before it could even be picked up by AA and taken to the dealership. I shouldn't have to deal with such inconvenience when I'm paying for a service that promises coverage. 5. Unfair Claim Payouts: When they finally processed my claim, they were only prepared to pay about 25% of the amount I was claiming, leaving me to cover 75%. The claim amount should have been much more equitable given the circumstances, but it was clear that they were more focused on protecting their bottom line than actually supporting their customers. 6. Unjust Excess on a New Policy: I had only been with them for 2 months when my car’s electrical system was struck by lightning. To my surprise, they told me that my excess would be much higher because my policy was still "new." This felt completely unjustified and made no sense whatsoever. How could they justify such high excess on a policy that was barely two months old? 7. Incompetence and ****mer-Like Behavior: To top it all off, every time I followed up on my claim, I was met with confusion. The staff had no idea what claim I was referring to, which made it clear to me that they don't have proper systems in place or they simply don't care. This level of incompetence and lack of accountability made me feel like I was dealing with ****mers rather than a legitimate insurance agency. In conclusion, South African Underwriters Agencies have been a source of constant frustration, and I regret ever signing up with them. They have poor customer service, unclear and unfair terms, and they operate like a company that’s more interested in making a profit than actually helping their clients. Do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs.
