Angry customer 😒

I made a claim late last year and the damages amounted to R35 000,00. I ended up paying R20 613.00 in excess. The first penalty was that it was a single vehicle accident because I hit a dog at night and paid R5000 for that. Second, it was voluntry access of R8000. Third penalty, was incorrect licencing, SA laws says I can drive a code 8 with a code 10 licence, and that this was not an issue when taking the product initially, and I paid R3000 for this one. Plus R4613 of my basic excess. I am infuriated by this and hope other brothers and sisters do not trust this guys. Thank you...

Dear Mahlatse

We thank you for your message and we are sorry that you are unhappy with the terms your policy.

We have listened to the conversation you had with your Broker when the policy was accepted and we can confirm the following:

  • The voluntary excess is the additional excess that you chose in order to pay a lower monthly premium.
  • The basic excess and all the additional excesses were disclosed and explained in detail by your Broker.
  • These excesses were agreed to and accepted by yourself.

An Excess is an undertaking that the Insured will be responsible for a certain amount of their loss in respect of every claim.
It is the portion of the claim that the Insured agrees and accepts as the amount they must pay for any valid claim.

In light of this we are confident that the policy terms & conditions were correctly app**** to your claim.
Should you have any queries please feel free to contact your Broker or our policy services team at ***
Kind regards
