How SA Taxi Finance Holdings (Khusela Insurance) let me down

My minibus vehicle had an accident. I reported this to my insurer SA Taxi Finance Holdings (Khusela Insurance). The vehicle was towed on 5th April 2018 to Middelburg at Smash Panel Beaters. The Mechanics found that the engine was affected and the insurance suggested the vehicle be taken to Toyota Middelburg for further assessment. It stayed two weeks at Toyota without being looked into because the insurance’s assessor did not give a go-ahead or authority to Toyota to do so. Finally, after Toyota did the assessment (when the insurance came through with the authorisation they gave out a quote of about R 12 000 to fix the engine. The insurance agreed to this quote. As they were busy with the vehicle, Toyota realised the damage was more serious than they thought and asked the insurance for authority to assess the vehicle further, which the insurance agreed. After the second assessment was made, Toyota issued a new quote of R 71 000. Insurance did not agree to the new quote; they asked Smash Panel Beaters to pull the vehicle from Toyota and insert (install) inside a vehicle a second-hand engine at the insurance’s own workshop at Johannesburg, because they felt Toyota’s second quote was too expensive. I called Innocent (the guy who works with claims at the insurance) to protest against insertion of a second-hand engine in my vehicle when I’m paying full amount every month for a cover that is supposed to cover expenses for matters such as this. Innocent noted my objections and said my case has been passed to management who until today have not come back with anything, not even acknowledgement of my problem. The saddest thing about my case is that I had a contract with the mine and now that contract is lost. Money is gone, thanks to this debacle. I encourage anyone who is thinking of insuring with SA Taxi Finance Holdings (Khusela Insurance) to look elsewhere for a better service and less stress.
