Vehicle had airbag error and was due for service

My name is Albert Tota

I’m very disappointed with SAML. I app**** for rent to own and my application was successful, I paid for courier for the car to be transported to Durban as I’m based here. I collected the car on the 31st March 2025 polo with registration JH15WR I drove the car to home and it shows air bag error on the cluster, I reported this to Cassidy who was my agent, he told me to contact Durban branch manager. I contacted Preeshan and I did not received a respond. The car started to request oil service after I drove it for about 3000 kilometres, When I took the car it had 26900 kilometres and when it reaches 230000 kilometres it start giving me oil service warnings. I reported this to my agent, who requested to get quotations from Bosch or Car Service, which I did, but I couldn’t get authorisation approval because I did not take maintenance plan for the car. I argued that I only just drove the car for approximately 3000 kilometres and that clearly shows the oil was almost ready for service and the company must at least cover this service and thereafter I will service the car myself for the next services. This was also not approved. I drove the vehicle until it reached 234475 kilometres without being serviced. I then decided to return the car and terminate my contract. It was possible that if the car experience mechanical problem due to non service the company was gone give me a run around to fix it, if they can’t cover oil service cost it means it will be impossible to cover mechanical problems, I decided its better to forfeit my deposit and cut the cost and return their vehicle. I returned their car on 26 March 2025, I drove that car for only 2 months , I couldn’t take further risks as the car had high mileage already.

To date this has not been resolved.

I called and was advised my account was escaped to management to have a look into it.

I have been invoiced as per the following beside having the car returned on 26/5/2025:
INV /2025/05/6609 RTB Monthly Rental at the bottom of this invoice it stipulates that “ This invoice covers the following period 25/5/2025~ 24/6/2025”
As previously mentioned the car is no longer in my possession. This invoice must be cancelled I cannot pay rents for the said period because the car has been returned.
I also receive another invoice
INV/2025/05/9366 Failed debit order -May 2025 amount R300

Thank you.

Besides my initial frustration, this company responded to my concerns very effectively.
I was even refunded accordingly.

With this kind of professionalism I will return to do business with them,
It’s unfortunate that my initial request were not met and I ended up returning their car, but that is water under the bridge now.

Thank you very much.
