Very bad experience

I am in choc of such service. A friend paid for same-day delivery yesterday, they collected the package then called me to say they had an issue, they will deliver the following today early in the morning. I told them it is fine. Until 2 PM, there was no feedback, I tracked on the website but nothing indicating out for delivery. I called their office they told me the driver will deliver before 4:30 PM. At 5 PM I called the office they told me the driver said he delivered, I explained I did not get his call, the office called the driver, and the driver gave my package to someone who claimed to know me. It is so chocking and unprofessional, worse the guy who collected the package does not even live in the commune. I called both the driver and the guy, they both can't give me an understanding of what happened. How am I going to resolve this?
