Opportunistic and ********* business practices
We had a longstanding contract with RSAweb. During the pandemic, we queried options to temporarily suspend. Initially they indicated no temporary suspension available (i.e. we had to continue paying for services we weren't needing/using).
So we asked to cancel.
* We queried possible suspension during lockdown on 29 April (intending to give notice of cancellation on 1 May, depending on suspension options)
* RSAweb responded only 5 May. We clarified intention to cancel same day; and gave formal notice of cancellation on 6 May;
* RSAweb responded on 11 May saying someone would get back to us within 24 hours;
* After we followed up more than a week later, RSAweb told on 28 May that notice operates from the 1st of each month and needs 30 days notice;
* On 28th May RSAweb apologised for non response earlier and telephonically clarified downgrade options in terms of our original suspension query. We informed them none of them suit us.
* We again formally confirmed notice of cancellation on 1 June, effective 1 July...
* On 9 July RSAweb invoiced us and said our cancellation would only be valid from end July. Effectively trying to get us to pay for 3 months of services due to their administrative inefficiencies in processing our cancellation.
* RSAweb has continued to bill us, even into September, and even though they discontinued our service end of July.
Administrative incompetence would be a generous interpretation. We are now of the view RSAweb opportunistically cause confusion so they can continue billing clients who have cancelled. At the very least, they should pick up the tab for their own management failures.
