******** Disconnection & Exploitation of Elderly – Escalation to ICASA Imminent

I am lodging a serious complaint against RSAWEB regarding what appears to be an ******** and procedurally unfair disconnection of my elderly parents’ internet service.

This disconnection was carried out without proper notice, without due process, and without reasonable opportunity to remedy any alleged issue. This is not only unacceptable — it may constitute a violation of consumer protection principles under South African law.

What is even more disturbing is that RSAWEB is now attempting to charge an excessive and unjustified reconnection fee, which strongly suggests exploitation of vulnerable customers. My parents are elderly, and this kind of conduct is deeply concerning and, frankly, predatory.

Let me be clear: • This matter is being formally escalated to Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) • A complaint is also being prepared for the National Consumer Commission (NCC) under the Consumer Protection Act • I am seeking advice on further legal action regarding unfair business practices and possible abuse of vulnerable persons

RSAWEB’s actions demonstrate: • A failure to follow lawful disconnection procedures • A lack of transparency and accountability • Disregard for consumer rights • Exploitative billing practices

If this is not resolved urgently, including: 1. Immediate reinstatement of the service 2. Waiving of all reconnection fees 3. A formal explanation and apology

then this complaint will proceed through all available regulatory and legal channels.

I strongly caution others, especially families with elderly members, to reconsider dealing with RSAWEB if this is how they conduct business.
