Inadequate assistance with registration and resolving issues resulting from the inadequate assistance

I started studying my BBA degree in 2016 as a campus part time student at Braamfontein campus, I then stopped for few years due to unforeseen circumstances. I returned in 2024 to complete the degree, however this time I enrolled as an Online student. At this point I was told that systems had been changed, my old student number was no longer working because it is from the old system, and there were changes made to the degree.

Therefore, I had to be registered as a new student and a new student number was allocated to me. The staff member that assisted me then checked the old system to see my old transcript and compared it to the current changed course and told me I had 5 modules remaining to complete the degree and assisted with registering all the modules for me and I passed the 4 and got FES(Failed Exam Subminimum) for 1 module.

I then app**** for a Dean exam for the one module(which is the exam you can write when you are left with one module so you don't have to repeat the module again and you can complete your studies). The application for the Dean exam was rejected and the reason provided was that I had to contact the Braamfontein campus to get my old transcript from the old system and submit it as a supporting document with the Dean exam application, I contacted the Braamfontein campus however no one was able to assist me because they are said my old student number is from the old system and they don't see my transcript in the old system.

After resorting to HelloPeter to express my frustration, only then I received help from Rosebank College. I was then told that I have 1 additional module that I have to complete that was not registered in 2024. This was a shock for me as I was told that there were only 5 modules remaining and all of them were registered for me in 2024.

Now because of this 1 additional module, I cannot write a dean exam which would have cost me R350 and I would also be completing my studies now. Instead I have to wait for July 2025 to register for the 2 modules in and additionally pay about R6000 fees for these.

I am really not pleased with this outcome at all. If I had received the adequate assistance from Rosebank College in the first place in 2024 with registration, I would have registered the additional module in 2024 and I would be paying only R350 now for the Dean exam for one module that I got FES on and I would be completing my degree. Instead I have to pay the 2025 module fee costs and on top of that I have to wait for July to register these modules.

This is a tremendous inconvenience on me FINANCIALLY and in terms of my time amongst other things. The only solution Rosebank offered is to assist me with registering the 2 modules, this does not in any way mitigate the impact that this will have on me, especially FINANCIALLY. I expressed this to Rosebank College staff member and I was told that they understand my feelings and frustration and they apologise on behalf of the institution that I did not receive the appropriate assistance when I registered in 2024 and that the only thing they can do is help me to register for July 2025, this does not help me in any way, I am still stuck with R6000 that I have to pay for the 2 modules, and I still have to wait for July 2025 to register and study these .

I am extremely disappointed.
