01 Feb 2021, 08:46Morning Werner,
Your complaint has been duly noted and someone from our team will be in contact soon to discuss this matter. Once again sincerest apologies for this.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support during these unprecedented times. The marketplace has been a tough grind for most law-abiding citizens, and we’d like to thank you for choosing us during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Since March 2020, we have experienced increased demands on our network and on our call centre staff. Many of you were forced to work remotely and our call centre teams have taken those early morning calls and late-night WhatsApp's and Telegrams. They have helped minimize your frustrations and navigate this new world. It’s been their privilege and delight, because we’re just as passionate as you are about Access. Advancement. Acceleration.
In addition to investing in additional staff training and improving communications and marketing with you (if subscribed), we also launched our RocketNet Probe app in 2020. You can download it onto your phone for free, to diagnose any network errors you may be experiencing. More recently, we launched a live RSS feed in ‘beta’ to give our customers hands-on information about any network’s status at any given time.
To continue to support and grow our network, we are adjusting our 2021 prices in line with current market conditions, industry trends and global inflation rates. These prices are “locked in” for the year, which means you have our commitment to NOT pass on any additional costs to our customers during this next year.
The price adjustments have taken into account FNO ownership and commercial agreement changes, supply chain disruptions, exchange rate impacts and a number of external factors. The good news is that our 2021 prices come with the commitment to provide a service that outweighs the costs involved.
As a proudly South African start-up, RocketNet is also actively seeking opportunities to reinvest into offering world-class, internet-based services not just for South Africans who can afford it, but also for those who can’t.
Our focus for 2021 is to keep improving on your internet experience. By investing in RocketNet as a company, you are investing in your online digital life. And as you continue to trust us with your digital life and internet experience, our hope is that we will turn you into a loyal customer.
Warmest regards,
Rocketnet Team

01 Feb 2021, 09:21Good morning Werner,
Thank you for writing to us and sharing your frustration on this matter.
We can completely understand where you are coming from, however please note that the changes on the Octotel network was not a change implemented by RocketNet, but rather one from the Fibre Network Operator - Octotel.
We tried our best to communicate openly and pro-actively to all our customers advising all asynchronous Octotel customers of the pending changes coming in 2021. These emails were sent in September 2020 and October 2020.
These changes were also widely publicised on platforms like MyBroadband - Why Octotel changed its fibre-to-the-home packages (mybroadband.co.za).
RocketNet simply cannot offer a product which is not offered by the Fibre Network Operator and as a such we must move to discontinue the product.
As a measure of good faith, RocketNet have already upgraded all asynchronous packages to the next synchronous package without the customer incurring any additional costs. This allows our customers to have a taste of the higher package before the new package becomes active on 1 March 2021.
We thank you for your understanding and we hope that you would reconsider your cancellation of services with us.
Kind Regards,
RocketNet Ops Team

01 Feb 2021, 10:02Good day
Thanks for your comprehensive feedback.
This is great news.
I do understand this is because of Octotel and not RockeNet as the ISP, just to make it clear I am still disappointed with Octotel's change in packages. There should be more options available for the client to ensure customer satisfaction and not what suits the fibre provider best.
I will not be cancelling my lines with RocketNet anymore, thanks to RocketNet accommodating their current clients by giving us an upgraded line for the same price. This does not go unnoticed and I am truly grateful.
For what its worth, I will change my 1 star to a 5 star for RocketNet and repost this thread as a 1 star for Octotel.
Kind regards
