Bad customer service and incompetence

I was a RocketNet customer for around 7 years. I had some issues around connectivity during that time which was a bit frustrating. In the end, after several messages and calls to support and no solution provided, I decided to try a different service provider. So I contacted RocketNet to let them know I would be cancelling my contract.

Suddenly they suggested a new router and the issue was resolved. Why was this not suggested before?

Recently I moved in with my fiance and for some reason we wanted to keep RocketNet as a service provider. I enquired about moving the service to the new address at the end of the month. I was told I would have to pay a R1000 fee and that it couldn't be done by the end of that month, so essentially we would have no internet for a month? When I said I wasn't happy with that and would then rather go with a different service provider the fee was waived and they kept sending me messages asking me to confirm the transfer date.

So I decided to cancel. Suddenly I got an influx of messages saying they valued my business? I was also charged for a full month of not using RocketNet's services because I didn't give a full calendar month's notice (3 days short of a calendar month).

When I cancelled, I asked when they would collect the router. I was told they would collect at the end of November. End of November came and went and no-one from RocketNet got in touch to arrange collection. So I emailed them and asked when they would collect their router.

A date was arranged. No-one arrived on the specified date to collect the router. I mailed them again to find out when they would collect their router.

Collection was arranged again.

Today, after the courier has collected the router, I get the following whatsapp from RocketNet:

Good Day

You are currently in possession of our WiFi Router.

Please click 'Schedule Collection' for us to make arrangement with you to send couriers to collect our WiFi Router.

Thanks RocketNet Team

Didn't love the tone of that whatsapp RocketNet. You really can do better..... I'll definitely never use RocketNet's services again after all of this.

Hi Renee,

Thank you for raising this with us, we sincerely apologise for the experience you had with RocketNet towards the end

Unfortunately because the router was only collected by the courier company today it has not yet been delivered to our office therefore the notice sent on WhatsApp was sent to all clients "in possession of our F2U routers".

Once again our sincerest apologies for the manor in which it was handled.

Kind Regards
RocketNet Ops Team

Can I suggest that you re-word that whatsapp message? It's not great.

If RocketNet was a bit more willing to be flexible, I would've stayed as a customer. So another suggestion is maybe be a bit more flexible and willing to accommodate long-standing customers.
