Wrongly Penalized

Hello Peter

I have a compliant about a traffic officer who used emotional decision to give me a ticket on saturday the 7th of May in the North West Mafikeng. I was stopped by a traffic officer who refused to give me his names when I asked for them, saying he doesnt need to give me his names, an officer of the law saying to me he doesnt need to give me his names. I only know his surname because its written in the ticket I received. The name is Mr M Palagangwe. When he stopped me saying I didnt stop at a stop sign. When explaining to him that I did stop, he then changed his story saying yes you did stop but late. While he was expecting me to continue arguing I decided to say nothing and he said you drivers from Gauteng dont obey the rules, because my car has a GP number plate. Then we proceeded to his car for him to give me a ticket. I over heard a taxi driver next to us saying a 500 ticket is too much as he was penalized for the same thing. To my surprise because I wanted to explain that I stopped and I believe he was taking an emotional decision, he gave me a ticekt for R1000 and I continued to say nothing. He asked for my details which I gave without issues, before signing the ticket I asked him for his names and he refused saying he doesnt want to give me his names. Because of that I wasnt ready to sign the document and he forced me to sign the document even said he will arrest me. I then signed the ticket. This is the kind of treatment we get from law enforcers and they cannot even coorporate with us as well. I need your help on this, I feel like I was wrong penalized and the amount of the ticket is also not fair for that matter.

Thank you

Moses
