Road Protect (Pty) Ltd Telemarketing Wesbank Snowman
Just got a call. The telemarketer let it sound that it is a benefit automatically part of your Wesbank loan. Then they just want to confirm your vehicle registration number.... I did not fall for that, did not give it... and rather asked what does it cost? R95.
Then I asked if its already part of my payment, as I did not give authority for this cross sell product. (discount on tires for who'ever, assistance to pay speed fines, etc) R1140 per year, they crazy! (and you never get them off your debit orders, ever again).
Eventually I figured its not part of my Wesbank agreements (else the guy would have know my vehicle registration number) and he confirmed that it is not part of anything I pay right now... that is why he is confirming the details...
So they pretend NOT TO SELL ANYTHING, tell you what you get (and here is the lie : "as a benefit of your wesbank finance", and then trying to get you to confirm things.
What a ****.... Wesbank, how does these guys get my details? Road Protect (Pty) Ltd: What a shame on you. In a country where people struggle to make ends meet, and you have this ***** approach getting money from people. (to say you will investigate this will just be another lie. Your telemarketers has scripts planned by you.. they do not thumb such this approach). Therefore you whole business model is suspicious.
THIS IS A WARNING FOR ANYONE OUT THERE.

Maybe I was to harsh on them :-( They are a Wesbank white label, so they may say we phone you on behalf of Wesbank, and somewhere in the tedious Wesbank Online Agreement confirmation process, I must have opt-in for "may Wesbank market their products to you".
In this SA environment of clicking incorrectly on an SMS, or maybe just use the wrong words in a telemarketing call, and end up for life with some unknown debit orders, and the life in SA of 50+ telemarketing calls a day, I guess I was unfairly "uptight" with Road Protect.
I still don't know if I will react differently next time with the same type of script, but in this instance, I apologize.
From my side, I guess its a sickness of smelling a rat, even if there is not one.
