Biased dealer focussed organization

Consumers are falsely led to belive that the RMI is a consumer watchdog and impartial. This is untrue. The RMI is backed by motor dealers who pay subscriptions to belong to this organization - as such it is fundamentally biased towards these dealers and the industry as a whole. In fact many highly questionable motor dealers belong to the RMI for this very reason. It protects their business and service practices.

There may be reputable dealers who are members of the RMI - however based on the average member ratings by the public via Google and Hellopeter and other ratings sites the average RMI member has a Google rating of around 2.5 out of 5.

This organization needs heavily regulated. Instead of helping consumers it does the exact opposite. It makes consumer complaints far more difficult to resolve fairly due to the underlying inward motor industry focuss and bias of the RMI.
