RLWA appalling service

"RLWA RL Wood & Aluminium was founded in 2003 and started as a timber manufacturing business that supp**** and installed all solid wooden products.

Through focusing continuously on our core value's, we strive to
* Use only the best quality materials in the ****struction of our products
* Employ only the highest s****ed tradesmen on our floor
* Be consistent in all that we do
* Build valuable relationships based on mutual trust and dependability"

http://www.rlwa.co.za/about-us/

My complaint relates to the poor service from RLWA. My initial interaction was with Gustav at a home improvement expo in 2016 - I was assured the best build quality and professional service. Gustav also mentioned that because of these factors their prices were higher than the competition.

Impressed by these promises (despite having multiple cheaper quotations) I obtained a quotation on 29 September 2016 and subsequently paid a 50% deposit. Full payment was demanded on 5 December 2016, which was promptly paid.

Fast forward to 19 June 2017 (I will be moving in 3 days!):
Window frames have been installed but certain windows do not have glass (all other finishes are 95% complete including wooden floor laminates and cupboards which are particularly prone to water damage)
I paid a premium for double glazed windows but these will not be installed in time
The skylight was incorrectly manufactured - despite explicit architectural drawings. Currently being made on site - glass has yet to be installed.
Multiple requests were made to maintain the existing aluminium windows and doors - Gustav now informs me that he will not be able to do this, 3 days before I move in.

"Use only the best quality materials in the ****struction of our products"

These don't seem to be available as I've been informed that it is difficult to source my special order glass.
Despite my order being placed more than 6 months ago and full payment made, this is the excuse I was given.

"Be consistent in all that we do"

RLWA has been consistent in making excuses for deadlines not being met.
My teams are not available to do the installation, glass is not available, etc.
Despite my order being placed more than 6 months ago and full payment made, this is the excuse I was given.
This illustrates poor planning from RLWA

"Employ only the highest s****ed tradesmen on our floor"

One window frame has been incorrectly manufactured - my builder had to compensate for this flaw by adjusting the wall in order to avoid further delays.

"Build valuable relationships based on mutual trust and dependability"

This is my favourite core value!
Despite multiple phone calls and emails regarding timelines etc. my installation remains incomplete.
I spoke to Gustav repeatedly, then escalated the matter to a senior member of staff (Jacques) - I'm still awaiting feedback from him
I depended on RLWA to complete the installation on time.
I now find myself forced to move into my new house with three children under the age of 3 in the middle of winter with no windows.
The only valuable aspect of this relationship is that I've learned never to use RLWA again.

I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere when considering RLWA for any of your home improvement or building projects.

In response to my complaint above, Riaan Langeveldt contacted me to apologise.

He personally dealt with my complaint and ensured that the job was completed. In addition, Riaan did additional maintenance work on existing doors and windows free of charge.

I applaud Riaan for accepting responsibility and trying his best to remedy the situation.
