Unsolicited Call & ******** Processing of Personal Information by Rewardsco
On 13 August , I received an unsolicited call from Snazo Ngwane of Rewardsco on ***, with the reference ***. she was confident enough to call me on both my numbers back 2 back....
I have never been a client of Rewardsco, have never given them my consent to contact me, and have never agreed to my personal information being used for telemarketing purposes.
This call constitutes a clear breach of my privacy rights including:
Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) – Particularly:
Section 11(1)(a)-(f): Personal information may only be processed with consent, under contract, law, legitimate interest, or with the data subject’s permission. None of these apply here.
Section 18: A responsible party must inform a person when collecting their personal information, the purpose thereof, and from where the information was obtained.
Section 69: Direct marketing by means of unsolicited electronic communications (including phone calls) requires prior consent.
Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) – which also restricts unsolicited communications without opt-in consent.
I request a full disclosure of the source from which Rewardsco obtained my contact information.
Written confirmation of the lawful basis on which Rewardsco processed my personal data.
Immediate removal of my personal details from all Rewardsco databases and marketing lists.

Failure to address this matter satisfactorily will leave me with no choice but to escalate my complaint to the Information Regulator and consider further legal remedies.
