BEWARE RewardsCo (Vodacom) tele-marketing upgrades. Untruthful sales pitches.

BEWARE RewardsCo (purporting to be Vodacom employees) tele-marketing upgrades. Untruthful sales pitches. Vodacom Upgrades: RewardsCo (purporting to be Vodacom employees) tele sales rep NaikerS06 Username NaikerS06 called me offering an upgrade ~6 weeks ago: I receive calls from Vodacom Upgrades (actually RewardsCo or similar “Agents” purporting to be Vodacom) continuously every couple days (which in its self is v irritating). The latest offer: from NaikerS06 was to upgrade my children’s 20gig data packages to 120 gigs. I specifically described that my children use data on their cell phones for WhatsApp calls etc and that any upgrade would need to work on their cell phones. The Vodacom tele sales rep NaikerS06 assured me that the 120gb data upgrade would be activated and would work on their cell phones. NaikerS06 told me that i would receive a 5G Vodacom router with each upgrade. I again asked NaikerS06 to re-confirm that the data would work on my kids cell phones (because it is implausible for them to carry around routers to access data on their phones). NaikerS06 again re-assured me and reconfirmed that the 120gb data upgrade would be directly available on their cell phones, and that the routers would therefore be redundant in my case. I specifically confirmed that the data would apply to kids existing cell phones which he confirmed (and i reiterated the question several times and specifically explained in detail that my kids need to use their phones (not a data router) and NaikerS06 reassured me that kids phones would work 100% which turns out not to be true. Looks like the sales agent told me a bunch of BS and that the data can only be used if accessed via the Vodacom Router.

I cant believe that Vodacom (represented by RewardsCo) would allow their tele reps to blatantly misrepresent the obvious truth (lie) to customers presumably to get a small sales commission at massive cost and inconvenience to both their customers and Vodacom as an organisation, and moreover, reputational damage to Vodacom’s credibility.

I have literally spent scores if not hundreds of hours trying to resolve / reverse this issue. I will NEVER dela with anyone purporting to be Vodacom upgrades again..

This is not the first time that this has happened. On 3 October ~2016?, I had a similar call (also (v curiously) from a Vodacom tele sales rep Naike??? offering me an upgrade in which the upgrade was materially misrepresented. Note to Vodacom: please also check that upgrade reversal circumstances, and please make sure that your Reps are severely sanctioned (dismissed) if they do not tell the truth!!!.

Warwick: 22 Sep 2023, 09:00 3 lengthy follow-up calls to Vodacom help desk 082135 and still no resolution to this problem after the better part of a month.... Children are still not able to make WhatsApp calls , use data, use their phones (as promised by the Vodacom upgrade rep "NaikerS06" at end of August). Zero feedback re repercussions, censure to "NaikerS06" for what in essence amounts to a fr&^4*****ulent sale. I think i am going to start drafting Particulars of Claim and go legal on this matter, get a court order and i might even lodge a police case. unacceptable... Note to Vodacom customers: Always get the full name and the ID number of any telesales upgrade agents, and record the exact time , date and get a reference number for the sakes call. This is not the first time that i have been misled by over eager Vodacom sales agents (who seemingly put their sales commission well before the interests of their Vodacom customers)
