Revibe SA refuses Consumer Protection Act (CPA) rights over a 24-hour internal rule
I ordered a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad laptop from Revibe South Africa (Order #ZA-72372) which was delivered on 18 August 2026. Upon opening and inspecting the device, the keyboard was found to be broken (the 'N' key came loose) and extremely sticky from a pre-existing liquid spill.I lodged a formal claim well within their advertised 10-day return window. However, Revibe's claims team (Karim and Arsany) summarily cancelled and refused my claim, hiding behind an internal company rule that delivery defects must be reported within 24 hours. They are claiming "misuse" for a device that arrived in this sticky, damaged state. An internal 24-hour company policy does NOT override the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) No. 68 of 2008. Sections 55 and 56 of the CPA give consumers the right to return defective goods within 6 months for a full refund. The stickiness proves the defect existed prior to delivery due to poor quality checks by Revibe or their supplier.I demand that Revibe honors my legal rights, accepts the return, and processes a full refund immediately. I will not leave this matter here and am escalating this directly to the CGSO.
Thank you for your message.
We would like to clarify that our policy regarding physical damage is clear and has been publicly available on our website for several years. Any physical damage or visible condition issue must be reported within 24 hours of delivery so that it can be assessed as a delivery-related issue.
The condition you have described, including a loose keyboard key and significant stickiness from an alleged liquid spill, would be clearly visible and noticeable upon inspection of the laptop. If the device had arrived in this condition, it would therefore have been expected to be reported within the required 24-hour period.
As the reported physical damage was not raised within the applicable timeframe, the claim was assessed in accordance with our established policy and has been closed.
Best regards,
