Revibe Device Purchase and Warranty Issues - DONT BUY FROM REVIBE!

I purchased a MacBook Air (2017, 256 GB SSD) from Revibe in May 2025. Immediately upon receiving the device, I discovered that Microsoft Outlook was not functioning due to software issues. I attempted to return the device within the 7-day period, but Revibe repeatedly delayed their responses until the return window lapsed. After that, they informed me that they would only refund 50% of the original price, despite my request being made well within the initial 7 days.

In addition, I later observed that Revibe updated or changed the policies on their website after my purchase, creating further confusion and raising concerns about whether the policies they now rely on even app**** to my transaction.

Fast-forward to now: the laptop again developed software issues, which I reported. Revibe collected it for assessment. Their first response claimed the device had been “tampered with,” but they were unable to provide any evidence, explanation, or details when questioned. They then changed their position again, stating that reinstallation of the operating system is not covered under their warranty policy.

Most concerning, I am now being told to pay R1,375 in shipping costs within 7 days, failing which they will dispose of my device—a device I fully own and paid for. When I explained that I am only able to make payment on the 25th, they refused to accommodate this reasonable request.

Revibe continues to rely on internal policies as though they are equivalent to law, despite not providing any legal framework, legislative reference, or regulatory grounding supporting these policies. The requirement to dispose of a customer’s property after 7 days, without statutory authority, appears ******** and inconsistent with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

Given the repeated contradictions, shifting explanations, policy changes after purchase, and the lack of a legally recognised foundation for the actions they are taking, I will be escalating this matter to the South African Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) and the National Consumer Commission (NCC) for investigation and resolution.

Hi Revibe

I see that you have disputed my complaint with Hello Peter, despite telling me that you would reinvestigate my case in full. I have provided Hello Peter with all the evidence of my statement.

Now, back to the case, what is the outcome of your investigation? I see you have updated your policy again 7 days ago - https://help.za.revibe.me/en-US/returning-a-device-under-the-10-days-return-***
