Complaint

“Revibe refusing refund for defective iPhone 15 Pro Max – Order ZA-32722” I purchased an iPhone 15 Pro Max from Revibe for R12 699.00 (Order ZA-32722), which was delivered on 18 February 2026.

Shortly after receiving the device, I began experiencing several issues. The phone overheats during normal use, the battery drains unusually quickly, and the screen flashed while I was using WhatsApp.

Because of these issues, I contacted Revibe and requested to return the device and receive a refund, as I believe the device may be defective and not of acceptable quality.

Revibe refused my refund request, stating that their 10-day return policy has passed and that only a repair or replacement is possible under their warranty.

However, under the Consumer Protection Act in South Africa, consumers have a six-month imp**** warranty on defective goods. Store policies should not override these rights when a product has defects.

I attempted to resolve the matter directly with Revibe but have not received a satisfactory resolution. I have now lodged a complaint with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud for assistance.

I hope Revibe will review this matter and assist in resolving it fairly.

Reviewer Update
Thank you for the response.

However, my concern is that this matter is being handled purely under Revibe’s internal 10-day return policy, while my complaint relates to defective goods under the Consumer Protection Act.

The device began showing faults including overheating, rapid battery drain, and screen flashing shortly after delivery. I have also discovered through the device settings that the display had previously been repaired and marked as a used part (repaired on 22 November 2025), which was not clearly disclosed.

In addition, the charging cable supp**** appears worn and possibly non-original.

Under the Consumer Protection Act (Section 56), consumers have the right within six months of purchase to choose a repair, replacement, or refund if goods are defective.

While I have been asked to submit a warranty claim, I have clearly stated that I prefer a refund due to the number of concerns with this device and the loss of confidence in its condition.

I have now escalated the matter further and will await a fair resolution.
